Steve Austin On His WrestleMania Thoughts, Sting Vs. HHH, Ronda Rousey, Next Year's Mania, More

Stone Cold Steve Austin reviewed this year's acclaimed WrestleMania event on his most recent show for Podcast One. The highlights are below, and you can hear the entire podcast at this link:

* Austin said that he doesn't like watching wrestling in broad daylight because it's hard to separate the people in the ring from the people in the crowd, but that was his only real complaint.

* He thinks that WrestleMania 32 will fill the arena. Austin cites Dallas being a more central location as being a reason why they can do that.

* Austin said he missed the four-way tag team match, but he really likes Tyson Kidd and Cesaro. He wants them to develop a unique look that will get the company behind them. Austin says that with the singles ranks being full right now, a tag team for these two works out well.

* Stone Cold said he cringes every time he watches a ladder match because of the damage involved. He pointed out the bumps that Ambrose took, as well as the Barrett/Stardust superplex.

* Austin wants the WWE to make the Intercontinental title mean something, and said they should "stop tossing it around like a hot potato." He didn't agree with the notion that championships are a prop.

* Austin put over J&J Security, saying he thinks they add a lot to Rollins' character.

* He says he liked the booking of having Rollins lose, because it didn't hurt him when once the show was over. He thought that Rollins losing would have slowed his push, but the main event calmed those feelings.

* Austin says that he didn't understand the drum entrance for Sting. He talks about Sting's WCW career and how excited he was for his WWE debut. He wanted more high energy music for Sting, though.

* Stone Cold said Sting looked really calm and collected through the match and never seemed lost at all.

* Stone Cold wasn't sure that some of the alliances made sense, but really enjoyed all of the interaction.

* Austin put over Sting's kickouts in particular, saying he always enjoys a good, close kickout. He mentioned it a couple of times. He wanted Sting to win, but didn't hate the finish because Triple H had to use a sledgehammer and four other guys in order to beat Sting. He thinks there's more money left in Sting in WWE.

* Austin says he probably wouldn't shake someone's hand if he got hit in the head with a sledgehammer if he came back after 14 years. He expects to see a lump or something, even if it's a work. He pointed to Lesnar getting opened up in the first three minutes in the main event just from a punch.

* He wasn't a big fan of the Kid Ink performance, but didn't trash it. He said he could have lived without it, and would have preferred if the Divas got three more minutes instead.

* Austin also didn't like Curtis Axel got tossed over the top rope by Snoop Dogg on last week's Raw.

* Stone Cold says that Rusev's entrance was "bad ass." He says he likes Rusev's mannerisms but wish he would move a little more in the ring. He said Lana throwing the shoes caught him out of the blue.

* Austin talks about how much respect he has for John Cena, and put over his strength to get out of the Accolade the way he did.

*Austin says that Cena vs. Rusev wasn't anything he hasn't seen before. He thought it was a solid match, though.

* He jokes and says The Authority segment lasts "an hour and fifteen minutes." He called the Rock's return a great moment, and he sort of saw it coming, but only because he's smart to the business.

* Austin really enjoyed the Ronda Rousey interaction, as you could hear him smiling as he was talking about it. He also talked about how great Stephanie McMahon is as a heel. He said he wished they would have timed it better.

* Austin says having The Rock and Ronda Rousey teaming up would be a good way to fill up the arena for WrestleMania 32.

* Austin doesn't think Sting losing to Triple H means that you can't bring Sting back, and doesn't think Triple H winning or losing affects his drawing power against Rock or Rousey for next year's show.

* Stone Cold says wins and losses are important, but the whole dynamic has changed. He said that the company has 364 days after WrestleMania to build to another one.

* He thought it would have been good to have heard from the Undertaker before WrestleMania in order to re-connect with the fans since he hadn't been seen in a year.

* Austin thought that Undertaker and Wyatt were a little too methodical, and there wasn't enough high energy in their match. He says that the two needed a little more of a sense of urgency. He suggested turning up the tempo and shortening the match by a few minutes.

* Austin calls Lesnar vs. Reigns the match of the night, and the match that made the whole show worth it to him.

* He calls Roman Reigns' impressive and put over his ability to sell and register. He also enjoyed Reigns' smiling facial expressions during the beat down.

* Austin wasn't sure in what manner Reigns busted Lesnar open at first, but says Lesnar hardway busted open on the ring post. He said it was picture perfect and a great addition to the match.

* Austin says Reigns has had great matches with two different kinds of wrestlers. He says there are still holes and weaknesses in his game but he's proven back-to-back that he can do what he's supposed to do in the ring.

* He calls Brock Lesnar the star of the match, but Roman Reigns was right behind him. He says he was really proud of Roman Reigns, and they need to book him smart.

* Austin pointed out that Reigns sold really well, and didn't let his hair get in his face that way fans could see the reaction on his face.

* Stone Cold thinks the plan to have Rollins cash in at WrestleMania was the idea all along. He calls the WWE Title an anchor that Reings probably couldn't have held at this point.

* Stone Cold says that Reigns is special and has a superstar quality, but he needs to be protected. He thinks Reigns needs to add to his offensive move set.

* He thinks Rollins winning adds new facets to Lesnar and Reigns' characters, but puts a lot of responsibility on the writing team to create good storylines for the show.

* Austin said he enjoyed WrestleMania, and liked it more the second time through. His only real critiques were the daylight, the musical act, and the Authority segment running long.
