UFC Adds Championship Bout, Former Title Holder To Fox Card, Felice Herrig Trashes Paige VanZant
- The UFC didn't waste a lot of time in re-scheduling the original UFC 186 main event of TJ Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao. The two are scheduled for a re-match July 25 at UFC on Fox 16 in Chicago.
The two fought last May at UFC 173, with Dillashaw emerging victorious, and a re-match was planned for UFC 177. Barao had issues cutting weight and was removed from the show, and the fight was then again set for UFC 186. Dillashaw sustained an injury, and the UFC will hope the third time is the charm this summer.
Also set for the show is former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony "Showtime" Pettis taking on Myles Jury. This will be Pettis' first fight since losing the title to Rafael dos Anjos, and will be competing just 90 minutes away from Roufusport, where he trains in Milwaukee.
His opponent, Myles Jury, has won six of his seven UFC fights. His career highlights include victories over Michael Johnson, Diego Sanchez, and Takanori Gomi.
- Ahead of their much talked about scrap this weekend at UFC on Fox 15, Felice Herrig didn't have kind words for her opponent, Paige VanZant, who was pulled from season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter.
"I think she would have fought Carla (Esparza) and lost," Herrig told MMA Junkie this week. "I don't believe that Paige is the elite of the elite; I don't believe she is the best of the best," Herrig said. "I really believe that any one of those girls in the house would have beat Paige."
VanZant was originally slated to participate on The Ultimate Fighter 20, but was removed from the cast due to her age. The UFC keeps alcohol in the house, and VanZant was too young to drink.
