WWE 2K Mobile Game's First Review Is Out; What's The Verdict?
Game Informer has posted an informal review (labelled a preview with no score, but it's a hands-on take on a game that was released today) of WWE 2K, the new WWE mobile game from 2K Sports. Available on both iOS (on iPad 4, iPad Mini 2, and iPhone 5 or better) and Android (but only on the Amazon App Store right now, not the Google Play Store), it's the first "simulation" WWE game for mobile devices, coming on the heels of the WWE Supercard card game and WWE Immortals, a Mortal Kombat-style fighting game.
According to Game Informer's Bryan Vore, your $7.99 gets you:
- Very good graphics, though there's no referee.
- Arcade-style gameplay, which is something of a necessity in a mobile wrestling game.
- "Extremely limited" and "extremely bare bones" create a wrestler and career modes, respectively.
- No story, making the matches run together.
However, while Vore sees WWE 2K as a "WWE 2K is a bare-bones, yet mechanically functional mobile title" overall, he sees a light at the end of the tunnel: No year in the title means that we could see a lot of updates that would improve the game since 2K wouldn't be saving anything for "next year's game." Until then, though, he thinks wrestling fans should wait and see.
