Matt Hardy Discusses Jeff Hardy's Injury, His Plans After Retiring, Wrestling In The UK, More

Impact Wrestling's Matt Hardy spoke to wrestling journalist Tom Feaheny about his plans after retiring, his brother Jeff's injury, and more. Here are some of the highlights"

On his brother Jeff's injury and their tag team run:

"I really grow to appreciate things as I age. Teaming with Jeff this last run we had and winning the Impact Wrestling tag team title was truly magical. Both myself and Jeff have families now, we're both so mature now and both veterans in the ring. It's truly special when we team up. When Jeff got injured, I wasn't there. When I got a call from my wife, telling me Jeff had broke his leg, I was shocked, I was concerned. He had never been hurt with a serious injury in the business. It was a little frustrating on my behalf because we were on such a good run as a tag team, but Jeff is a real daredevil. I'll wait for Jeff to heal up and do it even better the next time around."

On Billy Corgan:

"I've known Billy for a number of years. Billy has always been a wrestling fan a big supporter. He has passion which oozes off him at the TV tapings. I had some good conversations with him, he has a good mind for the wrestling business. He is a creative genius when you look at his work with the Smashing Pumpkins. He understands what it takes to make a professional wrestling work in 2015, it was an amazing score to have him a part of the company, I would love to help shape a singles run of Matt Hardy with Billy Corgan."

On his plans for after finishing as an in-ring competitor:

"I'm not really a betting man, but I would bet on me taking a role behind the scenes. I love professional wrestling. You have to be able to perform at a high level in 2015, I would love to offer my mind and experience to the younger wrestlers."

On fighting in Britain:
"I'll tell you the British fans are very intelligent fans. They are so respectful and courteous of the wrestling they are part of the show and go along with the entertainment aspect so well, they get it."

On who he would like to fight next:
"EC3 is someone I would like to have a feud with. Also Bram. I know these guys are up and coming I feel we could have great feuds, I think we could get something good out of them and I could also help them."

Matt also spoke to Thomas Feaheny about who his inspiration growing up in wrestling was, the best teams in Impact Wrestling, who Matt rates as the next breakout star in Impact Wrestling, the AAA event, Shane Helms being in Impact Wrestling, his thoughts on a PPV in the UK, on soon becoming a dad for the first time and the rumours regarding Impact Wrestling and Destination America.
