Ring Of Honor COO Talks About New TV Deal, How It Benfits ROH, Serving As Lead In To TNA Impact
After a landmark announcement for the company, Ring of Honor COO Joe Koff spoke to 1Wrestling's Bill Apter today about ROH's new deal with Destination America.
Apter noted that he's a big fan of Ring of Honor, but wasn't able to watch the weekly syndicated show in the Philadelphia area. This has also been a big problem for huge markets like Chicago and New York City.
"It's very exciting for us. One of the reason I'm so thrilled Destination America acknowledged us because it gives me access to a lot of markets we're not in due to a lot of reasons, mainly FCC regulations of how many stations an individual company can own," said Koff.
Koff was also asked about Ring of Honor airing before TNA Impact each week. Koff seemed really excited about the crossover viewership and leading in to Impact. Koff spoke very well of TNA, and also explained the importance of the two programs working alongside each other.
"I think it's terrific. Not only is it three hours of wrestling, it's two different styles of Wrestling," explained Koff. "I'm from the TV business, lead in, lead out is really important and I can't think of a better neighbor for Ring of Honor to have."
Koff also said that when they read that Destination America was picking up TNA Wrestling, they contacted the people at Discovery to gauge interest in ROH. He said that the negotiations between ROH and Destination America have been going on since TNA was brought on.
Ring of Honor Wrestling will debut on Destination America next Wednesday at 8 eastern, and be followed by TNA Impact at 9 eastern. You can see Bill Apter's full interview with Joe Koff above.
