Sami Zayn Injury Update, How Long Has He Dealt With This Injury?

According to PWInsider, former NXT Champion Sami Zayn is in Birmingham, Alabama today. He's likely scheduled to get shoulder surgery for a torn rotator cuff, an injury in which he aggravated weeks ago during his United States Championship match with John Cena on Raw from Montreal.

Zayn was written off of the NXT show for the time being at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable, being brutally attacked by his opponent Kevin Owens. Zayn also didn't appear at the NXT tapings, which covered the next month of programs.

Zayn missed about a month and a half earlier in the year dealing with another shoulder injury. He was forced to miss out on NXT's live shows in both Columbus and California, and has only been able to participate in five television matches for NXT in 2015. He returned briefly at the beginning of April, performing on live events for both NXT and WWE for a month before re-injuring his shoulder.

PWInsider also said that Zayn's shoulder has been bothering him since before he signed with WWE. NXT star Hideo Itami also recently had shoulder surgery, and will be out several months.
