Cain Velasquez Responds To PED Accusations, New UFC 188 Embedded, UFC Scores Good Ratings
- UFC has released the second episode of UFC 188 Embedded ahead of the big UFC 188: Velasquez vs. Werdum show this Saturday. In addition to main eventers Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum, the show also follows co-main eventers Eddie Alvarez and Gilbert Melendez as they prepare themselves for the big show.
Wrestling Inc will have full, live coverage of UFC's return to Mexico this Saturday, with round-by-round coverage of the pay-per-view. We'll also have a viewing party and quick results of the preliminary fights starting at 6:30 PM eastern. You can see episode 2 of UFC 188 Embedded above.
- We mentioned yesterday that UFC Heavyweight Ben Rothwell accused UFC Champion Cain Velasquez of using performance enhancing drugs. Velasquez addressed the accusation this week, seeming shocked when the idea even came up.
"That I am?" Velasquez said at a media luncheon this week. "That's a big compliment for me, because I'm never known for physique. For someone to point that out, I'm kind of flattered. Did you watch his after-fight speech?" Velasquez said with a laugh. "Maybe it's coming from that, I don't know."
- Despite a week card on paper, UFC Fight Night 68 over-delivered both in the cage and the ratings. Fox Sports 1 averaged 950,000 viewers for the main card, which peaked at 1,208,00 for the main event of Dan Henderson vs. Time Boetsch. These are UFC's best numbers on Fox Sports 1 since February.
