Report: Huge UFC Fight In Jeopardy

Gutting news for UFC fans this afternoon, as it appears that UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo is injured. UFC or President Dana White have yet to comment on the matter and his status for next month's UFC 189 is unknown.

Combate first reported the news Tuesday, noting that Aldo sustained an injury in practice Tuesday morning. Medical examinations went on to show that the champion suffered a fractured rib. Typically this injury requires a minimum of 3-4 weeks of treatment. His fight with McGregor is scheduled to happen in under three weeks.

Aldo has had an extensive history with injuries, as almost anyone in MMA would. He's been forced from at least three scheduled championship fights during his UFC tenure.

Losing Aldo would be a huge blow for the UFC, even if the fight were simply delayed. There have been thousands of fans who have made travel arrangements to attend the event. Nevada law does allow fans to get ticket refunds if a main event falls out.

Aldo last defended his title last October against Chad Mendes. We'll keep you updated as additional information becomes available.
