UFC Announcer Says Kimbo Vs. Shamrock Looked "Fake," Tito Ortiz Turned Down Both Fighters, UFC Ranks
- UFC announcer Joe Rogan was very outspoken this weekend about the Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock fight, which did record ratings.
"To me, the whole thing, the entrance looked so suspect because he [Shamrock] was shaking everybody's hand. It didn't look like he was about to go to a fight. It looked like he was about to go put on a performance. But they might have told them that this is the way to generate interest in this fight. To hype it up. All the fake bad blood," Rogan said.
Rogan elaborated on his feelings, saying the placement of the two was unusual. It's worth noting Joe Rogan has long stated he's not a fan of professional wrestling and worked matches.
"That fight looked fake as f-ck," said Rogan Saturday on his Fight Companion podcast. "There's a couple things I don't like about that fight. I don't like that clinch. That long clinch that they had when they were mouth to ear. They were mouth to each other's ears for a long f-cking time."
- Speaking of Kimbo Slice and Ken Shamrock, UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz revealed this weekend that he turned down potential fights with both men. He stated that he thinks he's past that stage in his career, and instead opted to face Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion Liam McGeary in September.
- The UFC rankings didn't see a whole lot of movement this week after UFC Fight Night 69. Tatsuya Kawajiri emerged victorious and jumped three spots to number 3, while his opponent Dennis Siver fell one spot to #13 in the featherweight top 15. Despite not fighting, Ryan Bader inched up to join the inactive Rashad Evans in a tie for the number 3 light heavyweight spot.
