Austin Aries Says TNA Dropped Ball On His Title Reign, EC3 Teaming With Samoa Joe, Mr. Anderson
- Former TNA star Austin Aries was a guest on Busted Open Radio on SiriusXM this week. During the interview, Aries talked about holding the TNA World Heavyweight championship in 2012.
"I guess as frank as I can say it ? somebody dropped the ball, and it wasn't me," Aries said (via The Inquisitr). "I was ready to run with it and somebody knocked it out of my hands from behind. I'm not sure where the decision was made, but I agree with your assessment and I think a lot of people agree with that assessment [that TNA had red hot momentum when they put the title on Aries]. You know, sometimes you have too many cooks in the kitchen, so to speak. At that time, that could have been the case of what was going on. You have different people fighting for different directions. All I wanted to do was to go on television every week and have the best? wrestling match of any company, anywhere."
- Mr. Anderson has been announced for Maximum Pro Wrestling's Northern Justice event on Saturday, September 26th at the Thériault in Timmins, ON, Canada. The Timmins Press has more details about the event at this link.
- AIW presents a loaded show tonight at the Ohio City Masonic Arts Center in Cleveland, Ohio. The main event is an interesting one, as it features talent from NXT, TNA, ROH, Lucha Underground and NJPW as Team AIW (The Young Bucks, Johnny Gargano, Josh Prohibition & Alex Daniels) battle the Dudes on TV (Samoa Joe, EC3, DJ Z, Raymond Rowe & Matt Cross) in a five-on-five Cleveland street fight. Vader will also be appearing at the show. You can get more AIWrestling.com.
- The News Herald has an interview with TNA World Heavyweight Champion EC3, who was promoting tonight's AIW event. He noted that "every major wrestling company will be represented" in the main event, and talked about returning to Cleveland as champion.
"It's pretty cool and pretty unique to come back to Cleveland as a world champion," EC3 admitted. "It's cool because from where I started, to be able to come back with some recognition shows me that I'm achieving my goals. The cool thing about being with TNA is that you can do things outside of TNA. This is the 10th year of AIW. I was on Absolution I, and am on Absolution X."
