New Japan Pro Wrestling On AXS Results (7/17): Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Ishii, AJ Styles In Action

Welcome to WrestlingINC's coverage of New Japan Pro Wrestling on AXS. This show features matches from the 2014 G1 Climax Show.

- Frank Shamrock is filling in for Josh Barnett on color commentary.

- We see highlights of an excellent AJ Styles vs. Minoru Suzuki match that saw heavy involvement by Suzukigun and Bullet Club. This is an excellent back and forth match that saw Suzuki uniquely work over the finger of Styles. AJ ends up winning, and is doing the best work of his life in New Japan.

- We also get highlights of Tenzan vs. Hirooki Goto. Much slower paced than the first match, but these guys beat each other to death. Tenzan wins via submission.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Tomohiro Ishii

Ishii gets tired of Nakamura's antics earlier and slaps him in the face, then hits a powerslam. Nakamura goes for Good Vibrations, but gets clubbed for it. The two go back and forth until Nakamura hits a draping DDT. He follows up with sick knees and kicks to Ishii, before placing him across the top rope and running a knee into his bread basket for two.

Ishii fights back and hits a delayed superplex on Nakamura for two. He follows up with a power bomb, but gets caught in a sleeper hold. Nakamura calls for the Boma Ye, but ends up getting drilled by an Ishii boot to the grill. A giant lariat from Ishii leaves both men down after Nakamura manages a second rope dropkick.

Nakamura locks on an armbar out of nowhere, but Ishii makes it to the ropes and nearly decapitates Nakamura with a lariat. Shinsuke fights Ishii off with a wheel kick, backstabber and a Boma Ye to the back of the head, but he can't capitalize. The two are trading huge shots, and Nakamura gets a Boma Ye for only a one count. He hits one off the second rope an Ishii kicks out at two. A third gets the job done.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura via pinfall (Boma Ye)

That was an awesome match, well worth going out of your way to see.
