UFC 190: Rousey Vs. Correia Recap: Ronda Rousey Continues To Make History

Iuri Alcantara (#13) defeated Leandro Issa via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-27)

Warlley Alves defeats Nordine Taleb via Submission (guillotine choke) Round 2, 4:11

Patrick Cummins (#14) defeated Rafael Cavalcante (#10) via TKO (elbows) Round 3, 0:45

Demian Maia (#6) defeats Neil Magny (#13) via submission (jawlock/rear naked choke) Round 2, 2:52

Main Card

Claudia Gadelha (#1) vs. Jessica Aguilar (#1) (WSOF Champion)

Round 1: The winner will likely face Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the 115-pound title. Gadelha scores early with a nice knee and a jab. Gadelha is much lighter on her feet and is landing often. Aguilar tries to close the distance, but repeatedly gets countered. This process repeats itself for the first three minutes, with Gadelha scoring the occasional uppercut or knee. A huge slam plants Aguilar and Gadelha takes her back.

Round 2: Gadelha rocks Aguilar right off the bat and presses her up against the cage. Aguilar finally separates after two minutes. Gadelha keeps landing uppercuts and Aguilar is busted up big time. Another easy round for Gadelha.

Round 3: The story of the first two rounds repeats itself again, as Gadelha tees off. Aguilar hits a nice right, but gets countered. Aguilar can't score a takedown, and Gadelha lands an open palm strike to the face. The two traded big strikes in the middle of the ring. Big combos and leg kicks are successful for Gadelha, and set up a big takedown. Mercifully for Aguilar, the fight ends.

Official Result: Claudia Gadelha (#1) defeated Jessica Aguilar (#15) via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

- That was a drubbing. Claudia Gadelha will get her rematch against Joanna. She calls Joanna out after the fight.

- Andrei Arlovski vs. Frank Mir is announced for UFC 191.

Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva (#12) vs. Soa "The Huk" Palelei

Round 1: Bigfoot scores a knee, but gets pushed against the cage. Hulk separates and connects with a couple of jabs. Bigfoot scores with an uppercut, but Hulk trips him up and puts Bigfoot on his back. Hulk tries to land some elbows, but moves inside the guard. Big punches, and the round ends.

Round 2: Bigfoot lands a big uppercut and a knee, then drops Hulk, and follows up with punches. It's over.

Official Result: Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva (#12) defeats Soa "The Hulk" Plaelei via TKO, Round 2, 0:41

- That was a big win for Bigfoot. He'd have probably been cut by the UFC if he lost. The TRT ban has really affected him.

Stefan Struve (#14) vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

Round 1: Nog connects with a punch and pushes Struve to the cage. Struve lands a straight punch, then a couple more. Nog tries to get Struve into guard, but Struve prefers to pepper him with punches. Nog comes back with a good combos, but eats leg kicks and a right hand.

Round 2: Nog slugs it out with Struve and pushes him against the cage. He drags Struve down, but after an escape, Struve is back to his feet. The two trade straight punches, and Struve lands another big one. Huge uppercut from Struve, as well as a front kicks. Big jabs and leg kicks from Struve, followed by a knee.

Round 3: Nog tries a takedown, but no dice. Instead, Struve blasts Nog with several straights, leg kicks and knees. Nog gets Struve against the cage again. Head kick from Struve with two minutes left. Struve continues to control the stand up exchange, with Nog landing the occasional punch.

Official Result: Stefan Struve (#14) defeated Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

- That's a huge win for Struve. That may be Nogueira's last fight.

Dileno Lopes vs. Reginaldo Vieria

Round 1: Vieria scores several uppercuts in the clinch, but the two separate. The two slug it out, but Vieria lcoks on a guillotine and has it on for a full minute, then Lopes locks on one too. That was really cool. Another sequence of punches, Lopes with another guillotine! Vieria gets out, and gets pushed against the cage. The two trade again, landing huge shots. Big punches to Lopes to end the round.

Round 2: Vieria lands the occasional strike, but this is a stark contrast from round 1. The two land big single punches, but Lopes fires back with a combo. Lopes scores a few nice body kicks, followed by a hook to the ribs. Lopes with another nice combo, Lopes takes Vieria down to close the round

Round 3: Vieria opens with a big leg kick, followed by a head kick. Lopes cracks Viera with a big punch, then takes him down. Lopes locks in another guillotine, but Vieria slips out after over a minute. Lopes drills him with elbows and Vieria lands big strikes from the guard. An awesome double strike sequence continues to the end.

Official Result: Reginaldo Vieria defeats Dileno Lopes via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)

- Best fight of the night thus far, but two 30-27 scorecards for Vieria are a little weird. Lopes' counter punching was excellent.

Glaico Franco vs. Fernando Bruno

Round 1: Franco opens with leg kicks, but Bruno counters with a punch. Franco goes for a takedown,
but Bruno turns the tides before they end up against the cage.

Round 2: Franco starts with a head kick, then goes right back to the cage. Franco drags Bruno to the ground, but Bruno ends up in his guard. Franco gets up, lands a strike, then ends up on Bruno's back trying a really bad rear naked choke until the end of the round.

Round 3: Bruno takes Franco down, but has the tides turned quickly. Bruno lands some body punches, and back to the cage wall they go. Franco lands a knee to Bruno's crotch, and the action is stopped. When they start back, Franco connects with a knee. Back to the cage wall, and Franco gets Bruno's back again. Franco locks in the submission for the win.

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (#8) vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (#11)

Round 1: The two feel each other out until Shogun lands a big body kick. Very little lands through three minutes until a big right hand and body kick from Shogun. Little Nog tags Shogun and follows up with a big flurry against the cage. Shogun is in a bad way, but still lands big shots.

Round 2: Shogun opens with a body kick and a takedown right out of the gate. Shogun lands strikes from half guard, but Little Nog escapes, and they're back on the feet. Shogun wastes no time in landing body kicks and pushing Nog to the cage. The ref puts the fighters in the center of the cage, where Shogun connects with a right hand-body kick combo. Shogun is finding a lot of success with the right kick to the body.

Round 3: Shogun opens with two more body kicks, and they're back on the cage, the theme of this fight card. Separation, another body kick by Shogun, but Little Nog clocks him. Shogun comes over the top with a right hand, but no damage done. He lands a nice counter jab combo, followed by a leg kick and a big right hand. More good combos coming from Shogun, but Nog won't go away. Nog pulls a guillotine, and it's in tight, but Shogun gets out.

- FINALLY, it's time for the main event, Ronda Rousey vs. Bethe Correia.

Round 1: Ronda Rousey tees off on Correia, wild exchange, Correia is out COLD.

Official Result: Ronda Rousey (c) defeats Bethe Correia (#5) via KO, Round 1, 0:34 to retain the UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship.

- Rousey thanks Rowdy Roddy Piper after the fight.
