Former WWE Writer On Why Vince McMahon Rejected Roman Reigns Angle, WWE Shop, Terminator WWE 2K16

- Former WWE writer Kevin Eck posted a blog yesterday at SportsBlog.com revealing that WWE once turned down an angle from him years ago because it would expose that Roman Reigns is Samoan. While The Shield were feuding with The Usos, Eck proposed that The Usos' father, Rikishi, appear with his sons on RAW. The Usos and Rikishi would then get destroyed by The Shield, which would involve Rikishi being triple powerbombed through a table. The Usos would later reveal that Reigns was their cousin and they had become estranged from him because he "fell in with the wrong crowd and made some bad decisions." Childhood photos of Reigns and the Usos would be used to show how close they were growing up.

"Vince and Triple H were in agreement that we absolutely should not acknowledge that Reigns is Samoan," Eck wrote. "Their belief was that it would pigeonhole him and damage his mystique. The inference was that the audience had a preconceived notion of what a Samoan wrestler is. You know, a guy in a grass skirt who wears a puka shell necklace."
