Former WWE Writer Talks Meeting With Eric Bischoff In TNA, Bischoff Calling Nasty Boys A Draw
Recently, on Vince Russo's new Wrestling Inc. feature, Fanning the Flames, the controversial professional wrestling personality talked with his former writing partner, Ed Ferrara, about a number of topics including the infamous 'what is a draw?' meeting they had in TNA with Eric Bischoff and Matt Conway.
According to Ferrara, during one of the first meetings he and Russo had with Bischoff after TNA decided to bring Bischoff and Hulk Hogan to the company, Bischoff did not take kindly to Ferrara's suggestion that the Nasty Boys were no longer a draw in the professional wrestling business.
"We were just going back and forth on what Eric and Hulk's plans were for the revitalizing and reinvigorating of the TNA brand. And we were talking about one talent after another, after another, they wanted to bring in, and, finally, when we got to the Nasty Boys, I guess I couldn't restrain myself anymore and I made a comment about how the Nasty Boys wouldn't be a draw and why were we bending over backwards to fit them in the show. And Eric stopped the meeting and stared at me with daggers and said, 'what's a draw, Ed? What is a draw?' and my response was, 'not [Jerry] Sags and [Brian] Knobbs at this point in the game.'" Ferrara continued, "what year was it, 2009, at that point? Yeah, not the Nasty Boys at that point. Nothing against them, great guys, but, at that point, we had bigger fish to fry than worrying about how we're going to fit Knobbs and Sags in on the card."
In addition to telling the 'what is a draw?' story, Russo and Ferrara debated NXT and much more. You can watch the full episode in the video above, or in the player below.
