Ronda Rousey's World Champion Mother Trashes Rousey's Coach And Calls Him 'Terrible,' More

Ronda Rousey's mother, Dr. AnnMaria DeMars spoke out to LatiNation this week about Ronda Rousey's controversial coach, Edmond Tarverdyan. DeMars said that Tarverdyan was a bad person, a bad coach, among other things. It seems as if DeMars and Rousey have had a few disagreements of late.

"I think Edmond is a terrible coach and I will say it publicly," DeMars said. "I think he's a terrible coach. I think he hit the lottery when Ronda walked in there. She was winning before she ever met him. She probably won 99 percent of the judo matches she ever fought in."

Since Rousey has gained success, several fighters have flocked to the Glendale Fighting Club camp, but haven't met the same success that she has. The camp has also seen a share of fighters leave in the past year.

"She was one of the top athletes in the world when she walked in there and he wouldn't even give her the time of day for months," DeMars said. "Somebody like that is a terrible coach. And I think she stays there, because it's like somebody pitches a no-hitter when they're wearing red underwear and they wear that red underwear every day. I think it's superstition and I would caution anybody from going there."

DeMars, who is a former judo world champion, said that she told her daughter that she'd no longer stay quiet about the situation. Rousey's boyfriend, Travis Browne, also trains at the facility. Fellow Four Horsewomen members Jessamyn Duke, Shayna Baszler and Marina Shafir now train out of CSW.
