Backstage News On WWE's Original Plans For Roman Reigns At Survivor Series

Seth Rollins' unfortunate ACL and MCL tear have certainly put the WWE in a bind. Outside of Rollins, the person it may have affected most was his opponent for Survivor Series, Roman Reigns.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Roman Reigns was finally planned to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship over Rollins at Survivor Series. Since Rollins has been sidelined, however, plans may have changed.

"Roman was going to win it at Survivor Series, that was the plan, I figured it, but I didn't know for sure, but in fact it is for sure, he was going to win it at Survivor Series, I don't know if he's going to win the tournament, because they have to get a heel hot," Meltzer said on Sunday's edition of the show.

With Rollins out well past WrestleMania, as well as Randy Orton, John Cena and Daniel Bryan all missing time, the WWE is hurting for star power at the top level. The company has few main event heels available.

Roman Reigns will almost certainly be included in the field to determine a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion at Survivor Series in two weeks. We'll talk more about this situation on Monday Night's edition of the Wrestling Inc Podcast.
