Huge First-Time Championship Match Set For 1/4 Tokyo Dome Show, AJ Styles Injury Update

- At tonight's NJPW Power Struggle event in Osaka, IWGP Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura successfully defended his title against Bullet Club leader "Machine Gun" Karl Anderson in an outstanding match.

We can now confirm that the semi-main event of Wrestle Kingdom 10 at the Tokyo Dome on January 4th will see Nakamura defending against the "Phenomenal One" AJ Styles. Two of the best professional wrestlers in the world today, Styles and Nakamura have somehow never competed in a singles match against one another. In fact, they have only ever once shared a ring; all the way back in 2008 when Nakamura teamed with Kurt Angle to take on Styles and Hiroshi Tanahashi.

- Speaking of AJ Styles, two weeks ago we reported that he had been removed from a set of Ring of Honor television tapings due to a "sciatic nerve problem". It was noted that he was expected back in action for December's Final Battle PPV, and that he just needed some time away from the ring as taking bumps aggravated the condition.

Styles was back in action at NJPW Power Struggle tonight, teaming with Bullet Club member Bad Luck Fale in a winning effort over Toru Yano and Yoshi-Hashi. Although the match was kept relatively short and Fale worked a good portion of the action, Styles did not look in any way injured, and was taking bumps all over the ring including a few high spots. He was seen holding his back after the match – although he could have just been selling – and was back to set up the aforementioned title match with Shinsuke Nakamura by the show's main event.
