Jim Ross Blogs About WWE Title Tournament, Says It Didn't Feel Important, Champion Should Be Heel

WWE is an a rough position, as seen on last night's Raw. The company has been forced to book a 16-man tournament for their WWE World Heavyweight Title, as their most recent champion, Seth Rollins, tore his ACL and MCL.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross posted his latest blog over at his official website, and said that he thinks a heel needs to emerge from the tournament as champion. The WWE hasn't had a babyface WWE World Heavyweight Champion since John Cena at Summerslam 2014.

"Still feel the next WWE Champion should be a disciple of The Authority which gives that heel much needed resources in a variety of ways to help establish taking unfair advantages and having a crutch to lean on while navigating the road to WrestleMania where I'd suggest Brock Lesnar will be waiting. Still of the mindset that Reigns is the guy to put in that position. Lots of great heat can be derived between November to April along with roadblocks for Lesnar and Heyman," Ross said.

The Authority – disciple storyline has been going for over two years, first with the currently injured Randy Orton, and most recently with Seth Rollins. Ross also said that he feels that the tournament needed to feel more important than it was portrayed on television, as well.

"The presentation of the WWE Title Tournament did not feel special to me," Ross explained. "I was let down by how it was presented which affects how it is going to be perceived. What's more important in WWE than the WWE Heavyweight Title? NOTHING!!"

Ross goes on to blog about each individual match that has happened so far in the tournament, as well as several other topics. Be sure to check out the full post at this link.
