More On WWE Crowning A New WWE World Heavyweight Champion At Survivor Series

As noted, a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be crowned in a Survivor Series tournament after Seth Rollins was forced to vacate the title due to an injury suffered at last night's WWE live event in Dublin. He's expected to be out for 6-9 months with a torn ACL, MCL and medial meniscus. Below is WWE's official preview for the match, noting that participants and details will be revealed in the coming weeks:

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins was set to defend his title against his former Shield "brother" Roman Reigns in a head-to-head battle at Survivor Series, but after Rollins suffered an injury that will keep him out of action for six to nine months, WWE's most prized possession will now be on the line in a historic tournament.

ESPN first broke the news on Twitter that WWE's top titleholder suffered tears to his ACL/MCL/medial meniscus while performing at WWE Live Event in Dublin, Ireland. As a result, Survivor Series will host a tournament to crown a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Which Superstars will be participating in this epic event? Will the current No. 1 contender, Roman Reigns, be involved? How many other Superstars will get a chance to win WWE's top prize? How will the contenders be decided? All these questions and more will be answered as we get closer to the must-see event.

Don't miss Survivor Series on Sunday, Nov. 22, as history will be made in a WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament, live on the award-winning WWE Network.
