NJPW On AXS Recap (11/13): Two Title Matches, Bullet Club, Kenny Omega, Doc Gallows, Karl Anderson
Welcome to this week's NJPW on AXS coverage from WrestlingINC! Tonight's show features two big championship matches.
IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship
Meiyu Tag (Hirooki Goto/Katsuyori Shibata)(c) vs Bullet Club (Karl Anderson/Doc Gallows)
Shibata and Goto they work on Anderson until Anderson rakes Shibata's eyes, and tags in Gallows. Gallows stops Shibata's with big strikes, but Shibata knocks him over and locks on a Figure 4. After going back and forth, Gallows gets a rope break. Shibata chops away at Gallows with kicks and tags in Goto, but Gallows takes them both outside the ring with a double clothesline. Goto gets back in the ring and gets out of a Gallows chinlock, but Anderson drags him back out and Powerbombs him onto the ring apron. The 20 count begins and Goto rolls back in at 17.
Anderson works over Goto while jaw jacking the crowd. Bullet Club tags in and out, isolating Goto. This goes on for a while until Goto reverses a Gallows suplex and gives Gallows one of his own. Shibata gets the hot tag and destroys Anderson with big elbows. With Anderson in the corner, Shibata delivers a running dropkick and follows up with a suplex for a 2. Goto tags in gives a Backdrop Suplex to Anderson for a two-count. Gallows interferes while Goto runs the ropes, but Shibata answers by catching Anderson in a choke from the apron. Anderson ducks as Goto charges though and Goto catches his own partner with a clothesline. Bullet Club proceeds to double team Goto with a 3D. Gallows gives Goto the Gallows Pole, but Goto only gets two. They set Goto up for the Magic Killer but Shibata breaks it up, saving his partner
Shibata tags back in and is a house of fire, taking out Anderson and Gallows with elbow strikes as the crowd cheers. Goto and Shibata hit corner splashes and a double suplex on Gallows. Goto and Anderson start countering each other mid-ring, but Shibata drops Anderson with a dropkick. Gallows cuts in and levels Shibata with a huge Powerbomb but Shibata kicks out at two. Gallows scoops up Shibata but Shibata slips into a rear-naked choke. As Gallows stands up, Anderson comes in and gives Shibata a neckbreaker. They go for a Magic Killer on Shibata, but Shibata fights them both off until he's overwhelmed by a Gallows Superkick and a Gun Stun from Anderson. The crowd wants Goto to make the save, but Anderson and Gallows hit the Magic Killer on Shibata for the pin. Bullet Club victorious.
Winners: Bullet Club
After the match, Cody Hall waves the Bullet Club flag outside of the ring as Gallows and Anderson pose with the belts. Goto and Shibata are helped to the back.
IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship
Kenny Omega vs. Ryusuke Taguchi
The crowd is really behind Taguchi. The opening sequence with Taguchi in control until Omega catches him trying to do his signature hip attack and lands a reverse atomic drop. On the second attempt Taguchi hits it, but Nick Jackson hooks Taguchi's leg. Omega then pokes Taguchi in the ass with the Bullet Club flag. Taguchi returns the favor. Wow.
Omega drives Taguchi into the side of the ring and then the barricades before rolling him back in the ring to break up the pin, after some interference from the Bucks. In the ring, Omega gives Taguchi a delayed suplex. Omega winds up his "Chainsaw" forearm and rakes Taguchi's face with his forearm. Taguchi recovers but has two hip attack countered by Omega. A third one hits, sending Omega out of the ring. Taguchi follows up with a diving senton to the outside on Omega.
Taguchi tosses Omega back in the ring, where he hits a springboard dropkick. Taguchi sets for the Dodon but Omega stops it, so Taguchi reverses it into a DDT. Omega manages to recover and goes for Croyt's Wrath, but Taguchi reverses into an ankle lock. Omega can't power out of the submission but makes it to the ropes, so Taguchi turns it into German suplex. Taguchi doesn't follow with a pin though, and Omega reverses a forearm into Tiger suplex. Omega picks up Taguchi with a gutwrench powerbomb, but it only gets a two count. Omega lands a knee in the corner and tries for Croyt's Wrath again, but Taguchi reverses it into a reverse rana. A running hip attack gets another two count. Taguchi climbs the turnbuckle, but Omega catches him and hoists him onto his shoulder for The One-Winged Angel. Omega hits it and its good for the pin.
Winner: Kenny Omega via pinfall
The Young Bucks hit Taguchi with the IndyTaker on a chair, but Alex Shelley and Dorada make the save. Dorada gets in Omega's face.
