Conor McGregor Responds To Floyd Mayweather's Recent Comments About His Success And Racism

Conor McGregor just effectively dropped the mic on Floyd Mayweather.

The brash UFC Feathwerweight Champion is fresh off of his unbelievable knockout of Jose Aldo at UFC 194, and took to Facebook to thank the media for their hard work, and for all of the awards he received for his impressive 2015 year. McGregor didn't stop there.

The Irishman took aim at Floyd Mayweather, offering to fight Mayweather at an 80/20 split since Mayweather's last fight bombed. By all accounts, it appears McGregor's most recent PPV may have done twice the number of pay-per-view buys as Mayweather's bout against Andre Berto in September. McGregor was more worried about Mayweather's recent comments about race, however, pointing out that the Irish have been targeted for years.

"Floyd Mayweather, don't ever bring race into my success again," McGregor said in the post. "I am an Irishman. My people have been oppressed our entire existence. And still very much are. I understand the feeling of prejudice. It is a feeling that is deep in my blood."

The beef stems from from an interview that Mayweather conducted recently, claiming a double standard as it pertains to race and trash talk in Combat sports. Mayweather singled out Conor McGregor as an example.

"I don't really know the McGregor guy, never seen him fight," Mayweather told FightHype.com recently. "I heard his name actually from one of the runners that works for our company ? a little kid named Ken Hopkins. He's a runner and takes care of a lot of the daily business. Whatever we need, he takes care of. He's a cool little kid, I like him, and he does MMA. He told me about the guy McGregor.

"They say he talks a lot of trash and people praise him for it, but when I did it, they say I'm cocky and arrogant. So biased! Like I said before, all I'm saying is this: I ain't racist at all, but I'm telling you racism still exists," Mayweather said.

McGregor, who previously thanked the media, said he understood how those things worked, but didn't hold it against those who published stories that caused friction.

"I understand that the more traffic a story can get the more revenue it generates. So I understand and respect that the media must create these stories and these situations even if at times it is at other people's expense. We've all got to eat. And I eat well. So I will not complain," McGregor said.
