Did Andrei Arlovski's UFC Cinderella Story Continue? Stipe Miocic, Joseph Duffy, Michael McDonald

On paper, UFC 195 wasn't a crossover, stacked show like we've seen in recent months from the company. Those who paid their $60 certainly got their money's worth, however.

Of course, Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit threw down in a fight that could go down as the best of 2016 when all is said and done, but they weren't the only selling points on the show. Andrei Arlovski and Stipe Miocic, both top-3 ranked Heavyweights, went to battle for a possible shot at the UFC Heavyweight Championship.

Many scoffed at the UFC for re-signing Arlovski a couple of years ago, but he'd won four straight UFC fights going into UFC 195, following a string of devastating KO losses. Stipe Miocic ended Arlovski's Cinderella story with a punch of his own, finishing the former UFC Heavyweight Champion. He then screamed at UFC President Dana White for a title shot against the winner of Champion Fabricio Werdum vs. Cain Velasquez at UFC 196.

There are a couple of obstacles in Miocic's way. The UFC has an affection for booking immediate rematches, and if Velasquez beats Werdum, the company may schedule a rubber match. Also waiting in the wings is new free agent Alistair Overeem, who may very well use a title match as leverage in negotiations in a deal with the UFC following his win over former champion Junior dos Santos.

Elsewhere on the card, former title contender Michael McDonald returned from a two-year injury absence to dominate Masanori Kanehara on his way to a second round submission win. Also, Dustin Poirier beat the last man to defeat Conor McGregor, Joseph Duffy. You can check out our full UFC 195 report at this link.
