New UFC Champion Crowned At UFC Fight Night Boston, Full Results

Dominick Cruz had dominated the bantamweight class until 2011. Some said it was littered with eventual flyweights, and the game had passed Cruz by heading into Saturday night. Four years after his last title fight, Cruz proved he still had it by regaining his UFC Bantamweight Championship.

Cruz defeated champion TJ Dillashaw in a close, somewhat controversial split decision. The scorecards were all over the place, with 11 media scores giving the fight to Cruz, and 10 to Dillashaw, with one draw at MMADecisions.com. One judge event went as far as to give Dillashaw a 49-46 scorecard, the only one Dillashaw won on.

Cruz used fantastic, signature footwork and head movement to slip punches from Dillashaw, frustrating the champion. This was the technical, fast paced, game of chess that was expected, and delivered. Late in the fight Cruz slowed down, and later revealed that he had a bad foot injury heading into the fight. After fighting only once in four years prior, it's a reason for concern.

Elsewhere on the show, Eddie Alvarez took home a split decision victory in a snoozefest over former Lightweight Champion Anthony "Showtime" Pettis, which consisted of three rounds of cage clinching fun. Ronda Rousey's boyfriend Travis Browne won via TKO over Matt Mitrione, but not before two eye pokes to Mitrione that could have stopped that fight. Browne was booed heavily after the fight
