Shinsuke Nakamura Announces NJPW Departure, Batista Shoots Down Fake Royal Rumble Tweet, Eden Stiles
- New Japan Pro Wrestling held a press conference in Japan today where Shinsuke Nakamura officially announced his departure. Nakamura was also formally stripped of the IWGP Intercontinental Title as he prepares to wrestle his last two NJPW shows on January 29th and 30th. Nakamura did not mention WWE at the press conference but noted that he's been stuck in a rut for a few years now and is looking to further his career. As noted, Nakamura is scheduled to travel to the United States for a few weeks in February, where he will visit the WWE Performance Center and likely do WWE medical testing.
- WWE ring announcer Eden Stiles noted on Twitter that she requested a name change several months ago to honor her late father-in-law Dusty Rhodes but it was declined. She tweeted the following when asked about "her brother" AJ Styles debuting for WWE last night:
Maybe I'll get that name change that I asked for to honor Dusty months ago. (It was declined, fancy that). https://t.co/5dGCc9ikOA

- There was a screenshot of a fake Batista tweet going around Twitter this weekend, featuring the former WWE Champion taking a shot at WWE for their Royal Rumble bookings in the past. Batista posted the following, confirming that he did not write the tweet:
@DaveBautista can you say this is fake so I can screenshot it and pass that around? pic.twitter.com/cvizPWdeJl

Not only fake but I'm pretty sure that it's illegal. Not positive but it seems to fall in the same area as forgery. https://t.co/zfhHqzaQJL
