Bellator Signs Away UFC Heavyweight, Title Challenger Also Possibly Leaving Company

While not the biggest of names, Bellator MMA acquired another puzzle piece, as they have signed TUF 10 alumni Matt Mitrione to a contract.

Mitrione revealed the news on today's episode of the MMA Hour. We'd reported on the Wrestling Inc Podcast in early February that Mitrione had a Bellator offer on the table, but was mulling over his options.

Mitrione stated that he's earning six figures guaranteed per fight over the four-fight deal, and will also serve as a color commentator for Bellator Kickboxing on Spike, which starts on April 16.

Bellator signed Ben Henderson away from the UFC this year, while also regaining the services of Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, albeit through a settlement. However, former UFC Welterweight Title challenger Rory MacDonald could very well be their next target.

MacDonald also appeared on the MMA Hour Monday and stated that he'll likely be a free agent in June after facing Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson. His year layoff wasn't due to an injury, but rather due to UFC negotiations that fever he'll end up fighting wherever pays him the most money.
