Steve Austin Talks Holding Back On WWE On His Show, Some Topics Being Off Limits With WWE Stars

On episodes 303 and 305 of The Steve Austin Show, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin spoke with Wrestling Inc.'s Vince Russo. During the interview, Austin admitted that often holds back his opinions on WWE's current product when he talks about the company on his podcast. Also, Austin said that WWE talents are not at liberty to discuss certain topics when they are guests on his show.

According to Austin, he is not as critical of WWE on his podcast as he would be if he had no ties with the company.

"A lot of the time, I hold back because I'm one of the boys and I've got to show up every damn month for a podcast. It's not my goal to run anybody down [or] run anybody down that's in control. I love the [professional wrestling] business, but it is what it is. I have my opinion. Sometimes, believe me, I'm holding back when I'm talking about my opinions because I don't want to shoot a hole in anybody."

Although Austin claimed that he "holds back" when it comes to criticizing WWE, he remains outspoken about many topics such as the pace of matches in WWE's Reality Era and preferring a more realistic presentation of WWE programming.

"I think the WWE, they live in their own world. Make your own world. Have your own set of rules. Present it in a serious light."

Also, during the interview, Austin acknowledged that certain topics are off limits when WWE performers are guests on his show.

"Sometimes, in talking, quite frankly, with WWE talent, you can't go certain directions." Austin continued, "there's a line that is drawn that you really can't cross over because they can't bury themselves [and] they can't talk about certain things, so, sometimes, it just is what it is."
