John Cena Has Huge Praise For The Rock; Talks Crapping His Pants During Match, Roman Reigns' Hair

Recently, John Cena stopped by REAL 92.3 to talk with Big Boy about a number of topics including how Cena gained respect for The Rock from their back-to-back WrestleMania bouts at WrestleMania 28 and 29, Roman Reigns' hair, and Cena's most embarrassing moment in the squared circle.

When asked who Cena saw as the face of WWE prior to his own ascension to the top of the company, Cena said that he grew up a fan of Hulk Hogan, being an east coast kid in the 1980s. Cena admitted that he gained respect for The Rock from their major feud that spanned two years.

"Well, as a young kid, it was definitely Hulk Hogan. I was a young kid growing up on the east coast in the 80s. But then, when I began to look at, like, the impact of people in the WWE and still, to this day, I appreciate the words, Dwayne Johnson. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is so spectacular and continues to move at such a breakneck pace and do stuff that is breaking not just WWE records. He is just on a ship into new waters. He's finding some new territory." Cena continued, "and, man, is he a fantastic human being. It's one of those things, like, I guess, when you have so much [animosity] towards somebody, you kind of gain respect after you beat the crap out of each other. And, man, over a two-year period did I ever gain respect for his vision of what he wants to do, not only in life, but how it impacts [or] affects people around him, and, like, what I do for a living. What he's doing is spectacular."

On the topic of Roman Reigns, Cena said that Reigns uses too much conditioner in his hair. Cena acknowledged that The Usos use a lot of conditioner as well, but not as much as their cousin.

"It's slime." Cena added, "they do, but not as much as Roman. Yeah, yeah. It's like heavy gel."

Cena acknowledged that Reigns' heavy-handed approach to conditioner application is a problem for other performers and said that Reigns has probably found that out for himself already.

"The cool thing about our industry is that there is a very quick learning curve, so he probably found that out for himself."

As for Cena's most embarrassing moment as a professional wrestler, the five-time WWE United States Champion admitted that he performed while suffering from severe food poisoning.

"I had an instance where I wrestled with food poisoning. And I don't have to tell the end of this story. You kind of know how that works. I had whatever I ate come back to haunt me from the north and the south. And it was not when I was wearing cargo shorts. It was when I was wearing boots and tights. I just so happen to be wearing a royal blue pinstripe and Halloween orange bodied tight, so it became a modern art masterpiece really."
