New IWGP Heavyweight Champion Crowned, Former TNA Talent Debuts With NJPW, Matches Set Up

- Tetsuya Naito became the IWGP Heavyweight Champion at Invasion attack by ending the nine-month reign of Kazuchika Okada. After the match, Naito brutally attacked an NJPW referee. Naito is only the fourth champion in the last five years. Naito tossed the belt in the air and left it in the ring after the match.

- During Naito's main event match with Okada, former TNA wrestler Seiya Sanada debuted for New Japan Pro Wrestling, siding with Naito and joining Los Ingobernables. Sanada left TNA last year after debuting in 2014.

- The matches set up at this morning's Invasion Attack were Michael Elgin vs. Kenny Omega, Katsuyori Shibata vs. Yuji Nagata, Jushin Thunder Liger vs. KUSHIDA, and Evil vs. Hirooki Goto.
