New UFC 200 Embedded Episode, Update On Dada 5000 Competing Again, Cain Velasquez Reducing Sparring
- The UFC Embedded series has returned, despite the fact that there's no actual UFC event this weekend. Instead, this series of episodes will focus on the promotional tour for UFC 200, featuring Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier, Frankie Edgar, Miesha Tate and others. You can see the full episode above.
- Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez is also set for UFC 200, and he said during a scrum this week that he's likely going to be reducing how much he spars in an effort to avoid injury.
"Sparring three times a week isn't as beneficial to me as (it would be for) a guy who is just coming into the sport," Velasquez said. "I think I'll cut sparring down to two days a week, maybe even one day. As long as I'm conditioned and sharp, that's all I need. I've had the experience from practice, so that's all I need."
- Bellator MMA President Scott Coker spoke to MMA Junkie recently about Dhafir Harris, better known as Dada 5000. Coker said that he isn't sure that Dada, who technically died in the cage, should fight ever again.
"For right now, I say let's just be friends," Coker said. "We can all be friends. There were a lot of situations in that last fight. I really wish the kid well. He had a tough going in the Kimbo fight and it was a very intense situation. I'm not sure I'm ready to handle that one again."
