Vince Russo Reveals First Impressions Of Shinsuke Nakamura, How He Stacks Up Against NXT Call-Ups

Former WWE, WCW and TNA writer Vince Russo has never been shy about the fact that his opinion on talent and wrestling programming doesn't always match up to that of so-called 'internet wrestling fans.' However, on this week's Wrestling Inc Podcast, he endorsed a longtime favorite among hardcore fans.

During last week's program, Russo proclaimed his allegiance to Will Ospreay's in-ring work. Ospreay made his NJPW debut on Invasion Attack, helping to fill a major void left by Shinsuke Nakamura, who defected to the WWE. Russo saw Nakamura for the first time while checking out NXT TakeOver: Dallas.

"I watched the Nakamura match NXT Takeover: Dallas. Somebody needs to explain to me who goes to WWE and who goes to NXT. What's that process? This guy's a star," Russo said. "You either have it or you don't. You can't teach 'it.' I've never seen anybody like him."

Shinsuke Nakamura's 'it' factor is one that has set him apart from other talents in Japan, and appears to be doing so in America as well. Nakamura, who is now full-time with NXT, should have been in WWE before some of the recent call-ups, according to Russo.

"I don't know why he's not in the WWE. He's got character, he's got charisma, he's got 'it.' I really, really enjoyed him, I just don't understand why he's in NXT. He's unique and I love unique," said Russo. "I think some of those guys that graduated from NXT shouldn't have."
