New Main Event Set For UFC 199, Replacement For Chris Weidman Announced

Less than 24 hours after former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman was forced to withdraw from his championship re-match against current champion Luke Rockhold, the UFC has found a replacement main event for UFC 199

UFC President Dana White announced on Sportscenter today that Michael Bisping will get his first UFC Championship fight at UFC 199, replacing Weidman against Rockhold.

Chris Weidman withdrew from the fight, as he'll require surgery on his neck for an extrusion herniation. Jacare Souza defeated Vitor Belfort at UFC 198, but injured his meniscus in victory, giving Bisping the shot.

Many names offered to step up and take the fight against Luke Rockhold on short notice, including Tim Kennedy, Uriah Hall, Derek Brunson, Gegard Mousasi and others. Rockhold took to Twitter last night to wish Weidman well and tell fans to 'stay tuned' regarding UFC 199.

The UFC has had major injury problems this year, as major fights in UFC 196, UFC 197 and UFC 198 all had to be pulled.

Wrestling Inc. will have full, live coverage of UFC 199 on Saturday, June 4.
