Several Major UFC Fights Booked: Title Fight, Holly Holm, TJ Dillashaw, Anthony "Rumble" Johnson
Just a week before one of the most stacked periods of UFC shows in company history kicks off, the company announced several more huge fights.
Former Women's Bantamweight champion and #1-ranked Holly Holm will compete at UFC on Fox 20 against Valentina Shevchenko, #9-ranked 135 pounder. The fight came out of nowhere, as many expected Holm to re-match Miesha Tate before Amanda Nunes got the title fight.
Another former champion in TJ Dillashaw is looked to be booked at UFC 200 on the preliminary card against the returning Raphael Assuncao. Dillashaw, the former 135-pound champion, looks to avenge his 2013 loss to Assuncao, who hasn't fought since October 2014 due to a foot injury.
It was noted on UFC Tonight that the Dillashaw/Assuncao fight would be slotted on the preliminary card, which still leaves one main card fight open just two months before the show. Thus far, no planned fight for that spot has been announced.
UFC on FOX 20 in Chicago is getting a good set of fights, as Anthony "Rumble" Johnson will take on Glover Teixeira in what could launch one of the men into title contention. Teixeira called out Johnson after his victory over Rashad Evans last month.
In addition to the Johnson/Teixeira bout and Holm/Shevchenko fight, Edson Barboza and Gilbert Melendez will also fight on the show.
Finally, it appears as if the UFC is planning a Robbie Lawler vs. Tyron Woodley fight for UFC 201 in August for the Welterweight Championnship.
