Chris Jericho On RAW Vs. SmackDown, Wrestlers Not Knowing Where They'll Be Drafted, Impact On WWE
In the video above, Chris Jericho talks out-of-character about the upcoming WWE draft live on SmackDown on July 19th. Jericho noted that wrestlers legitimately have no idea where they'll end up until the night of the draft.
"Everybody sits in the back dressed in full gear sitting there waiting to hear where you're going," Jericho said. "It really does go that far, so I don't know where I'll be drafted, and neither does anyone else."
Jericho also said that with SmackDown going live on July 19th, the situation is now "a whole different world." He noted that for drafts in the past, SmackDown was a taped show.
"Even though the roster was very strong, [it] might have even been better than RAW... you still always had that live element of RAW," Jericho said. He said that SmackDown always had a net because it was taped, and now there really is a chance for both brands to be even with both shows being live.
Jericho added that with the split, new talent will have to be given a chance to get to the next level.
"If a three hour RAW has a pool of 50 guys to choose from, and now there's only 25 guys to choose from, there better be some spotlights shown on some different people," Jericho said. "It's going to be a very exciting time, not just for the roster, but for the WWE Universe itself around the entire world because you will see new stars [and] new legends being made as a result of this brand extension."
