UFC President Says Ronda Rousey Had Surgery, Sidelined For Several Months

Don't expect Ronda Rousey back in time for UFC's Madison Square Garden show in November, if at all in 2016.

UFC President Dana White said on ESPN today that the former UFC Bantamweight Champion Rousey had surgery on her knee that will sideline her for longer than expected.

"I'm hoping we're going to get Ronda back this year," White said on ESPN's SportsCenter on Thursday. "She actually ? she just had surgery on her knee yesterday. Nothing serious, just get in there and scope it, clean it out a little bit."

Not many minor knee surgeries keep people out of the cage for well over six months. Rousey has been known to have bad knees since her judo days.

As far as who Rousey will face, Dana White says Rousey is still in line for a title shot.

"If Miesha Tate's still the champion, she'll fight Miesha Tate, White said. "Whoever has the belt is whom Ronda Rousey will fight.Injuries happen in this sport, somebody falls out and somebody else slides in, I'm not even saying Holly Holm couldn't be the champion by the time Ronda comes back," he continued. "Whoever holds that belt when Ronda's ready."

Dana White was making the media rounds to promote this weekend's UFC 199, which Wrestling Inc. will have full coverage of on Saturday night.
