Brock Lesnar's Place In UFC Rankings, Fedor Result Overturned, UFC Champion Put On Blast
- Former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin and Matt Parrino break down the latest batch of UFC rankings in this edition of "Rankings Report." Among the hot topics is the heavyweight division, which saw former champion Brock Lesnar jump into the Top 10 at #8 after besting Mark Hunt.
Another former champion, Cain Velasquez, and Derrick Lewis each moved up following their wins during International Fight Week. Velasquez stopped Travis Browne, while Lewis bested Roy Nelson.
- The World MMA Association has overturned Fedor Emelianenko's recent win vs. Fabio Maldonado, declaring it a draw. The association, which according to MMAjunkie is led by Emelianenko's ex-manager, had all three judges review the fight. This time around, all three scored it 28-28.
Maldonado, a former UFC heavyweight, rocked Emelianenko in the first round and nearly finished "The Last Emperor." However, the Russian came through in the latter stages of the fight, controlling the action. The bout took place in June from St. Petersburg, Russia and aired live on UFC Fight Pass.
The future for Emelianenko remains uncertain, as there were reports he could sign with the UFC before the Maldonado fight. So far, nothing new has come out regarding his future.
- Max Holloway has taken on any and all challenges the UFC has presented to him over his last nine fights. And each time, the Hawaiian has come out the winner. Now, Holloway isn't about to let someone take his place in the UFC's featherweight division.
UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz has made it clear he would like to challenge for the featherweight belt, side-stepping Holloway and others in the division. Holloway on Twitter let it be known that he is not willing to just stand by and let that happen.
No disrespect @dominickcruz but if u want to come up to 145 u gotta get inline behind me... or go through me. #beenwaitingpatiently
