Corey Graves hypes tonight's matches and Mauro Ranallo and Daniel Bryan welcome us to this evening's WWE CWC. Glad you could tag along. The action is fast and furious on the CWC, so apologies if I miss a spot here and there. Lineup looks like another fun one, so let's go to the ring.
Tyson Dux vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
We are reminded of the 20-minute time limit as ZSJ makes his entrance to a nice pop. Dux makes his entrance. Love the "tale of the tape" for each match and the pre-match coronations. The two shake hands and the bell rings. Collar/Elbow tie up. Expect plenty of reversals and mat-based grappling here. Sabre works over the left ankle of Dux but Tyson reverses and works Sabre's ankle. Headlock to head scissors. ZSJ bridges out and grabs Dux's arm. Sabre working over every single body part with unique and smooth transitions. Dux with a fireman's carry takeover to break away for a moment as he heels up the crowd. Cravat by Dux but the master of escapeology does just that. ZSJ twists his legs to twinge the arm of Dux. Sabre breaking out the power moves now with uppercuts and elbows. Dux lands a fisherman buster for a two count. Dux locks in an armbar and matches Sabre's reversals. Series of elbow from Dux, but Sabre goes for a misdirection and applies the Octopus and wrenches on the head of Dux. Kick lands from Sabre Jr. and lays Dux out with a running knee for a two. Dux lands an atomic drop and follows it up with a "textbook" DDT. Pin reversals and attempts by both men to no avail. Sabre applies a hammer lock body scissors and it looks quite painful to say the least. ZSJ applies a strong submission and prevents Dux from getting to the ropes. Dux taps and Zack Sabre Jr. is your winner. Fantastic technical wrestling match.
Winner via Submission: Zack Sabre Jr.
Drew Gulak vs. Harv Sihra
The submission specialist Gulak takes on one half of the Bollywood Boys, the technically sound Harv Sihra. They shake hands and we're off. Gulak using the catch wrestling right away with a waist lock. Sihra gets the best of a knuckle lock but gets caught in a body scissors. Sihra crosses Gulak's ankles to reverse but Gulak makes it to the ropes. Gulak with the power advantage. Series of pin attempts for both men. Flying clothesline from Gulak for a two count. Open palm strikes from Gulak and tosses Sihra off the ropes. Sihra catches Gulak and tosses him outside the ring. The Bollywood Boy then goes for a springboard cross body and connects. Twisting neckbreaker from Sihra and a cover for a two. Gulak to the top rope, but Sihra joins him on the top and hits a Superplex that stays connected all the way down. Gulak applies a Dragon Sleeper out of nowhere and adds a body scissors. Sihra tries to reverse, but no luck. Gulak cinches it back in and Sihra has to tap.
Winner via Submission: Drew Gulak
Anthony Bennett vs. Tony Nese
5'5" without the hair, 5'10" with the hair, Bennett looks to fly and use a bit of technical nuance as well. Nice pop for Tony Nese. Obvious power difference here as the "premier athlete" thinks he deserves to be here. Friendly handshake gets us started. Surprisingly mat based to begin and would assume the action picks up shortly. Nese ducks a clothes line and kicks and lands strikes and sweeps the legs right out from under Bennett. Nese with a cartwheel to duck a kick and lands a superkick of his own outside the ring. Bennett hits a rolling cannonball from the apron to the floor and rolls Nese back into the ring. Another leg sweep from Nese and hits the rope for a springboard moonsault. Nese tries a vertical suplex, Bennett tries to escape with knees to the head, but Nese maintains hold and converts the suplex. Bennett escapes a body scissors and takes down Nese. Bennett looks for a Tornado DDT but Nese blocks. Bennett able to regain control and converts the DDT but doesn't get all of it. Pumphandle power slam after series of reversals. Bennett lands oddly and the official checks on him and stops Nese from coming off the top rope. The official clears Nese for takeoff as he hits a big 450 for the win. That one never really felt smooth.
Winner via Pinfall: Tony Nese
Raul Mendoza vs. The Brian Kendrick
The braced Luchador takes on the comeback kid, Brian Kendrick. Nice pop for Kendrick as the crowd is happy to see him back. Mendoza idolizes the late great Eddie Guerrero. Let's see if he lies, cheats, or steals anything in this one. The 4th straight mostly friendly handshake tonight. Toss, reversal, toss, reversal, finally taken over by Kendrick with a side head lock. Kip Up by Mendoza that Kendrick doesn't appreciate and delivers a kick right to the gut. Mendoza with some nice rope work and athleticism and takes down Kendrick with a head scissors. Mendoza with a crossed leg swing into a submission and Kendrick is on the ropes early. Big boot to the face of Mendoza after creating some space. Using his savvy and experience to get the upper hand. Kendrick with the pitbull mentality and a nasty streak as he rubs Mendoza's face on the ropes. Mendoza's mouth is busted open, but he rolls Kendrick up and grabs the tights for a two. Referee Charles Robinson checks on Mendoza, and it may be just what he needed. Mendoza begins flying high with a corkscrew plancha. Mendoza misses a 450. Dueling Kendrick and Mendoza chants by the crowd. Kendrick goes to the top and is met with a leg sweep into the tree of woe. Mendoza climbs to the top and goes Coast-to-Coast for a huge pop! Back breaker from Mendoza. One, two, and Kendrick gets his leg on the rope to break the count. Kendrick plays possum and rolls Mendoza into the Bully Choke and Mendoza taps fairly quickly! Mendoza won over a lot of fans in this one and glad to see The Brian Kendrick back in a WWE ring.
Winner via Submission: The Brian Kendrick
Kendrick celebrates as the crowd somewhat turns on him as we go to the CWC Control Center. Corey Graves takes a look at next week's matchups. One of which includes Johnny Gargano vs. Tomasso Ciampa. See you next week!
