WWE Universal Championship Match Announced For SummerSlam
The main event for the August 21st WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view will see RAW Superstars Seth Rollins and Finn Balor collide in singles action. The winner will be crowned the first-ever WWE Universal Champion.
Balor earned the shot against Rollins after winning a Fatal 4 Way on RAW, then defeating Roman Reigns clean in the main event. Reigns had also won a Fatal 4 Way earlier in the night. Rollins was put into the title match by Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley because he was their #1 draft pick.
As noted, the Universal Title will be the new major title for the RAW brand now that WWE Champion Dean Ambrose is on SmackDown.
As of this writing, the only other match confirmed for SummerSlam is Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton.
