Bellator Makes Signing Of Former UFC Star Official, Bellator 160 Results

- Rory MacDonald is now officially on the Bellator MMA roster. The former UFC welterweight title contender was introduced during Bellator 160 Friday night on Spike TV. MacDonald's UFC contract came to an end earlier this year and the promotion did not opt to match the deal presented by Bellator.

"There are multiple reasons why I choose to fight for Bellator MMA and Scott Coker," MacDonald said. "One, they have given me the opportunity to develop and grow a business together. Two, because I already feel respected by the promotion as a professional athlete. And last but not least, because Bellator is offering a setup that no-one in the world can offer me."

MacDonald's debut, though, will have to wait after the 27-year-old Canadian suffered a broken nose in his loss to Stephen Thompson earlier this year.

"There's no denying that Rory MacDonald was the cream of the crop when it comes to free agents in MMA," Bellator President Scott Coker said. "As I say all the time, if there is a free agent out there, we're going to talk to them, if they fit our model we're going to make a hard push to bring them over here. I'm very happy that we were able to work out a deal with Rory, and I can't wait to see him bring his menacing style to the Bellator cage."

- Benson Henderson's next fight will come for the Bellator lightweight title, as "Smooth" bested Patricio "Pitbull" Freire Friday night in the main event of Bellator 160. Freire, a top challenger to the featherweight division, suffered a broken shin in the loss which prompted the second round stoppage.

Henderson is scheduled to challenge Michael Chandler for the belt in November. Chandler was in attendance Friday to see Henderson's win.
