CM Punk On If His Fight Game Is Ready, Nerves Heading Into UFC 203 Debut, How He'll Win

Brian Stann interviewed CM Punk during last night's UFC On FOX event about Punk's upcoming debut at UFC 203. Below are some highlights from the interview:

* Stann asked Punk if he was happy with where he was at. Punk said that he'll never be happy because he's always striving to be better than he is, which is why he loves MMA so much. He said that he's where he needs to be as far as a first fight goes, and he's satisfied with his skill set.

* Stann noted that Punk has wrestled in front of big crowds, like at WrestleMania, and asked if he was feeling the nerves heading into the fight. Punk admitted that he'll have nerves because he's about to fight, but not because of the crowd size or fans booing or cheering. He said that his jitters will be with fighting and "what am I exactly doing with my life right now?"

* Stann said that he spoke to Punk's UFC 203 opponent, Mickey Gall, who said that Punk already has fame and isn't going to use him as a stepping stone, and that Punk's time will be over after they face off. Punk no-sold it, saying that Gall is supposed to say things like that. Punk said he's not doing this to be a star, but that he's doing it because he wants to and was presented the opportunity. Punk said that it sounded like Gall was getting in his own head, which was good for Punk.

* Punk was asked how he sees himself winning the fight. Punk said by applying pressure. He said that he hasn't seen much of Gall because his fights have ended pretty quickly, but said that no one has really pressured him and put him in uncomfortable positions, which he plans to do.

Punk faces Mickey Gall at UFC 203: Miocic vs Overeem on September 10, 2016 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. As always, Wrestling Inc. will have live, round-by-round coverage of the event.
