The G1 is down to it's final four events. For those interested in sampling New Japan World to see the final 3 days of the G1 climax. There will be English commentary done by ROH's Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino. Coming into today, 6 participants in the B block are separated by only 2 points. All trying to win the B block and qualify for this Sunday's G1 final. Here are today's results.

THE UNDERCARD

RYUSUKE TAGUCHI DEFEATED DAVID FINLAY IN 5:03

Taguchi gets the win over the fourth generation wrestler Finlay with the Dodon.

BAD LUCK FALE, TAMA TONGA & YUJIRO TAKAHASHI DEFEATED SATOSHI KOJIMA, JUICE ROBINSON & MANABU NAKANISHI IN 6:24

The Bullet Club wins yet again on the G1 undercards when Tonga hits the Gun Stun on former NXT wrestler CJ Parker, now known as "Juice". The build in this match was for Bad Luck Fale's next G1 opponent. His own stable mate, Tama Tonga. Fale is tied for 1st place and Tonga can spoil his chances of winning the A block and going to the final.

"COLD SKULL" SANADA & BUSHI DEFEATED HIROYOSHI TENZAN & CAPTAIN NEW JAPAN IN 5:41

The Los Ingobernables de Japon tandem gets the win with a Skull End by Sanada on the Captain.

KAZUCHIKA OKADA, TOMOHIRO ISHII, HIROOKI GOTO, NAOMUCHI MARUFUJI & GEDO DEFEATED HIROSHI TANAHASHI, TOGI MAKABE, KUSHIDA, JUSHIN THUNDER LIGER & TIGER MASK IV IN 10:12

G1 CLIMAX 26

B BLOCK

KENNY OMEGA DEFEATED KATSUHIKO NAKAJIMA IN 10:29

Omega beats Nakajima with the one winged angel. This match was great but ended too soon. This was very entertaining. Great finishing sequence where Omega appeared to be done in by a Nakajima penalty kick, only to recover and hit a reverse rana followed by the one winged angel. Huge victory for Omega which puts him right in contention to win the B block this coming Saturday when he faces Tetsuya Naito. Kenny is not in a win and you are in situation even with a victory against Naito. Omega would need help in the form of an Evil victory over Shibata and an Elgin loss to Nakajima. Nakajima is officially eliminated by virtue of this loss. He has been one of the best performers in the entire tournament and had a great showing representing NOAH. He will face Michael Elgin in his last G1 match.

"KING OF DARKNESS" EVIL DEFEATED TORU YANO IN 2:57

Evil gets the win with the STO on Toru. Yano's run of pulling off unorthodox victories is over. His unlikely journey to win the B block has ended as well with this loss. Yano had stolen 3 straight wins over the likes of Nagata, Elgin and Shibata heading into this contest. This time, He couldn't find the cheap way out. Infamous new japan referee "Red Shoes" actually factored into the finish when he prevented Yano from cheating. Both competitors are out of contention. Yano will face Yoshi next while Evil attempts to play spoiler against Shibata.

TETSUYA NAITO DEFEATED YOSHI-HASHI IN 15:01

The former IWGP champion and current B block leader, Naito beats Yoshi-Hashi with the Destino. Good match that had a bit of an awkward finish with a botched spot by Naito on a reverse DDT before recovering and hitting his finisher on Hashi. Naito is at 12 points and controls his own "Destino" heading into the final day of B block action. If Naito defeats Kenny Omega on Saturday. He will advance to the final on sunday vs the winner of the A block. Yoshi-Hashi has represented himself well in the G1 as a crowd favorite and perhaps top underdog figure in New Japan. He finishes up the G1 vs Yano.

KATSUYORI SHIBATA DEFEATED YUJI NAGATA IN 12:16

Nagata taps out and passes out to Shibata's rear naked choke/sleeper. With this win, Katsuyori is still mathematically alive at 10 points but he needs a lot of help. On the final day of the B block. Shibata needs Kenny Omega to beat Tetsuya Naito and he needs Nakajima to defeat Michael Elgin. If that happens and Shibata defeats Evil Saturday. That would create a 3 way tie between Shibata, Omega and Naito at 12 points each. Since Shibata has defeated both Naito and Omega in this tournament. He would hold the tie-breaker over both of them. The 48 year old NJPW legend, Nagata has had a very good showing throughout the G1 having good matches with a variety of opponents. He can still hang but his time as leader of the pack has long since faded.

MICHAEL ELGIN DEFEATED TOMOAKI HONMA IN 18:43

Surprising that this was put into the main event slot on such a crucial G1 event. Honma is the hometown hero from Yamagata and he was given this spot as a result of it. "Big Mike" gets the win in a long match here with the Elgin Bomb on Honma. This was a much better match than it looked to be on paper. The crowd was obviously energized and invested in Honma and both competitors stepped up to deliver a very good main event.

Here is where things get complicated. On the surface it would appear that Michael Elgin is out of contention to win the B block despite having 10 points going into the final day. Elgin has victories over Shibata and Omega but even if he defeats Nakajima and gets an Omega win vs Naito. Elgin would finish tied with Tetsuya Naito at 12 points but by virtue of his loss to Naito earlier in the G1. He would lose the B block because of that tie-breaker.

Not so fast, Here's the thing. In that scenario. There would be 3 competitors tied at 12 points each. All 3 with wins against each other. Making the head to head between the three at 1 and 1 each. Further complicating matters is if Shibata wins and that ends up creating a 4 way tie at 12 points. That would create even more uncertainty. In this scenario, While Naito has a win vs Elgin, he would have losses to Shibata and Omega. Omega would have the tie breaker over Naito but he has losses to Elgin and Shibata. Shibata has wins over Omega and Naito but he has lost to Elgin. This can be very confusing.

If New Japan determines that in a 4 way tie, Overall head to head comes into play. Then Elgin and Shibata would be at 2 and 1 in that scenario while Naito and Omega would be at 1 and 2. Since Elgin beat Shibata. That's how that tie would be broken. This uncertainty and tie breaking rule clarification by New Japan would all go away with a simple Naito win.

NJPW has had ties in the past where normal tie breaking procedures did not determine a winner of a particular block. In 2009, In a tournament first, the exact tie for first place in Block A between Togi Makabe and Hiroshi Tanahashi was decided by a coin toss. This unorthodox tiebreaking procedure was done because Tanahashi and Makabe wrestled each other to a time limit draw during that year's G1.
