Matt Striker Talks Lucha Underground Being A "Comic Book For Adults," Vampiro Being Strange, More

Mike Jones from DC 101 interviewed Matt Striker this week, who called to preview season 3 of Lucha Underground, which debuts tonight. You can check out the full interview in the audio player below, they sent us these highlights:

How Lucha Underground makes wrestling fun to watch with the stories:

"It's a graphic novel, it's a comic book for adults. I think everyone remembers falling in love with wrestling in the first place, with Hulk Hogan, with Ultimate Warrior, with whatever you like. Now the adult in us can be entertained while the kid in us, you can't deny it, that kid wants to be entertained too. It's a fun television show, I don't even think it's a wrestling show, and that's what I dig about it."

Why he and Vampiro click so well calling Lucha Underground:

"My broadcast partner is the strangest dude in the world. We walk up and down the street everyday and we pass strange people, but every so often there's that one person where we just feel something vibrate off of them or we move away a little. That's him. I just vibrate off of him and bounce off of him. I don't know what he is but he's really weird and also a special guy."

Lucha Underground's South By Southwest success could lead to more live events:

"In the idea of concept rollouts, you have Ted Talks, you have Apple presentations, South By Southwest was another venue and another avenue for the product to be rolled out to people. We said, 'Hey, in this world, if you're looking for one hour where you don't have to think about anything and just go on this nice euphoric adventure and then be here. Try this. Take one of these and call me tomorrow. This is called Lucha Underground, check it out. Man, woman and child alike can get into it.' So yes, as far as the live event goes, I can't control where they show up but I'm pretty sure it's going to be a lot more accessible yes."
