WWE Announces Scholarships For Former Talents
WWE announced the following:
WWE awards scholarships to 3 former talents
WWE has announced that former talents Jamie Keyes, Kim Nielsen and Antonio Thomas will receive $5,000 scholarships in 2016 as part of the WWE talent scholarships program.
Jamie participated in NXT Season 3, under the tutelage of The Bella Twins. Before joining WWE, though, Jamie was working toward a degree in nursing. Jamie's sports-entertainment career gave her a completely different perspective on health and wellness. That perspective compelled her to pursue a master's in nursing after her in-ring career concluded. She also hopes to obtain a nurse practitioner's license after receiving her degree.
Former developmental talent Kim Nielsen is currently working toward a bachelor's degree in Addiction and Recovery with a minor in Christian Counseling at Liberty University. The mother of three has a 4.0 GPA, is on the Dean's List and was invited to join the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She hopes to use her degree to help people in need find a solution in recovery, and she wants to write and speak about addiction and recovery.
Antonio Thomas broke into WWE in 2005 as a member of the tag team The Heart Throbs, along with his partner Romeo. He is currently an Adaptive Physical Education and Health teacher at a special needs school for middle and high school aged students on the autism spectrum. He also provides home services for three autistic, nonverbal teenager boys. He's hoping to complete his master's in Elementary Education and pursue doctoral work and special needs services to provide better service to his students.
Past scholarship recipients include Kristal Marshall, Maria, Paul Burchill and Michael Thompson.
