WWE Loses Big Overseas TV Deal, "NXT: Takeover" Tickets, David Otunga To Reveal Rikishi Story?
- TELE 5 in Germany will no longer be airing WWE RAW once their contract ends in March of 2017, according to a report from DWDL.de. "Bild am Sonntag" first reported the news. WWE SmackDown, which airs in Germany on ProSieben Maxx, is also expected to move to a different network when their deal is up, which is also in March of 2017. WWE VP Europe Stefan Kastenmüller said that there is a lot of interest in the shows and that they are planning to secure a new contract in Germany.
Dave Meltzer noted in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer that while WWE was able to produce decent ratings on ProSieben Maxx, they were net money losers because of the lack of interest from sponsors – other than WWE licensees – to advertise on the show. Meltzer noted that a big portion of the deal was based on ProSieben generating revenue from WWE pay-per-views, but that revenue stream died out after the WWE Network launched in Germany in November 2015.
- Tickets went on sale today to the general public for NXT Takeover: Toronto, which takes place on Saturday, November 19th at the Air Canada Centre. You can purchase them at NXTTickets.com.
- As seen on SmackDown Live this past Tuesday night, David Otunga repeatedly tried to tell a story about recently talking to WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi about the Usos change in attitude, but was cut off each time before he could finish. Otunga promised to finish the story on next Tuesday's episode... maybe:
