WWE Superstars Recap: The Golden Truth Gets A Win, Curtis Axel Vs. Darren Young

The Superstars opening video kicks off the show after the usual WWE signature. Darren Young (w/Bob Backlund) and Curtis Axel make their entrances as Tom Philips and Corey Graves check in on commentary.

Axel kicks and punches Young several times after the bell rings. Young sends Axel to the ropes prior to hitting a spinning forearm on him. Young kicks Axel in the midsection before hitting a neck breaker on him. Young hits a modified leg drop prior to pinning Axel for a one count. Young rakes the back of Axel. Axel eventually reverses the momentum of the match and attacks Young's back. Axel mounts Young and punches him several times on the mat. Axel drives his knee into Young's neck. Axel locks in a headlock. Axel throws Young to the ropes before hitting a dropkick. Axel punches Young several times while backing him into the corner. Axel chops Young. Axel hits a snapmare on Young before locking in another headlock. Axel switches to a shoulder submission. Young eventually punches Axel in the face several times. Young hits a pair of clotheslines on Axel before an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Axel rolls to the apron. Young goes out to the ring apron as well. Young hits a back body drop on Axel on the apron. Young pins Axel for a two count. Young goes for the Cross Face Chickenwing, Axel elbows him in the face though. Axel kicks Young and goes for a suplex, Young reverses that into the Gut Check. Young pins Axel for the win.

Mahal and Truth start the match. They lock up. Truth locks in a headlock before switching to a wrist lock on Mahal. Mahal elbows Truth in the face. Mahal punches Truth several times before sending him to the ropes. Truth catches himself by holding the ropes before he starts dancing. Mahal attempts a clothesline, Truth ducks it before hitting a hip toss on Mahal. Truth hits headscissors on Mahal. Goldust is tagged in. Truth and Goldust hit a double elbow to the face of Mahal, prior to another double elbow on the mat. Mahal tags in O'Neil. Goldust kicks O'Neil before sending Mahal out of the ring. Truth gets in the ring. Truth and Goldust clothesline O'Neil out of the ring as we head into a commercial break.

Truth is tagged back in as we return from commercial, Mahal is legal for the heel team. Goldust and Truth hit a double side Russian leg sweep on Mahal. Truth hits a leg drop on Mahal before pinning him for a two count. Mahal manages to back Truth into the heel corner as O'Neil tags in. Truth punches O'Neil before kicking Mahal. Mahal regains control and sends Truth into a big bit from O'Neil. O'Neil stomps Truth several times. Mahal tags back in. Mahal pins Truth for a two count. Mahal locks in a shoulder submission on Truth. Truth fights out of it. Mahal hits an elbow drop on Truth after an attempted sunset flip. Mahal pins Truth for a two count before tagging O'Neil back in. O'Neil connects with a boot to the chest of Truth. O'Neil locks in a face lock on Truth. O'Neil hits the ropes, only to receive a spin kick from Truth. Mahal is tagged in, as is Goldust. Goldust ducks a clothesline attempt by Mahal, before hitting a clothesline of his own. Goldust hits an uppercut on Mahal. Goldust hits a bulldog on Mahal. Goldust hits a powerslam prior to pinning Mahal. O'Neil breaks the fall before being sent out of the ring by Truth. Truth dives over the top rope onto O'Neil at ringside. Goldust hits the Final Cut on Mahal. Goldust pins Mahal for the win.
