Bobby Lashley Fights Live On Spike, UFC Heavyweight Bout Added To UFC 207, One Final TUF?
- Part-time wrestler, part-time MMA fighter Bobby Lashley steps back inside the Bellator cage this evening to meet Josh Appelt in the co-main event of Bellator 162. The contest airs live on Spike from Memphis and the FedEx Forum.
Lashley has picked up seven consecutive wins, including four straight finishes with Bellator. He is coming off a November first round TKO win over James Thompson, and has also stopped Dan Charles Karl Etherington and Josh Burns since 2014.
Earlier this month, Lashley lost the TNA World Heavyweight Championship to Eddie Edwards after successfully defending it vs. Ethan Carter III.
- Former heavyweight champions Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez are now official for UFC 207, as the bout will take place December 30 from Las Vegas. The card is headlined by Ronda Rousey vs. UFC female bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes, and is also expected to have UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz vs. Cody Garbrandt.
Werdum is coming off a win over Travis Browne that followed his losing the title to Stipe Miocic. The Brazilian won the belt when he submitted Velasquez, who got back on track with a recent victory over Browne, as well. The two were set for a rematch earlier this year, but an injury forced Velasquez out of action.
- As rumors swirl that the new owners of the UFC will cancel The Ultimate Fighter, MMAjunkie is reporting that an "all-star" concept season is in the works for January. Welterweights would likely be featured, with current UFC fighters and former contestants being in the running.
The report also obtained a comment from the UFC which shot down the talks of TUF being on the way out. WME-IMG recently cleaned out, firing several high-ranking officials within the UFC Las Vegas office and other international homes.
