- Lyman Good, a former Bellator welterweight champion, has been removed from the November UFC 205 card due to a potential anti-doping violation. USADA informed the UFC of the possible failed test and officials took the New York native off the card. Good was expected to meet Belal Muhammad from Madison Square Garden in New York City.
"USADA has provisionally suspended Good based on the potential anti-doping violation," the statement read. "USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case. It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full fair legal review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Consistent with all previous potential anti-doping violations, additional information or UFC statements will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward."
Good earned his 19th career win and first with the UFC when he topped Andrew Craig last year. Muhammad is 10-1 overall and 1-1 inside the Octagon.
- There will now be four titles on the line at the year-end World Series of Fighting 34 event, as the promotion invades Madison Square Garden. Three of those fights will air live on NBC on December 31, including a main event between lightweight champion Justin Gaethje and challenger Joao Zeferino.
Marlon Moraes, the reigning bantamweight champion, will defend his title against Josenaldo Silva, while middleweight titleholder David Branch puts one of his two belts on the line vs. Louis Taylor. That bout headlines the NBC Sports Network prelims that air before the main card.
The event will also include Jon Fitch defending his welterweight title against Jake Shields, former UFC title contender Yushin Okami facing Paul Bradley and ex-UFC heavyweight Jared Rosholt vs. Caio Alencar.
- An interesting flyweight battle has been signed for UFC 207, as Ray Borg meets Louis Smolka. UFC 207 takes place December 30 from Las Vegas and features Ronda Rousey challenging for the bantamweight belt vs. champion Amanda Nunes and Cody Garbrandt doing the same vs. Dominick Cruz.
Smolka and Borg were both on rolls recently that came to a screeching halt. Smolka had won four in a row before being submitted by Brandon Moreno, while Borg had his three-fight win streak snapped earlier this year vs. Justin Scoggins.
