Backstage News On Goldberg's WWE Deal, His Likely WrestleMania Match

Dave Meltzer noted on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that Bill Goldberg got a "real big money deal" for this past Sunday's Survivor Series match against Brock Lesnar. As for Goldberg's new deal with WWE, Meltzer said that Goldberg is willing to wrestle for that amount as often as Vince McMahon wants him to, so it's up to Vince on how many times he wants to use him. So Goldberg's appearances going forward appear to be open-ended as long as WWE is willing to meet his price.

Meltzer added that WWE is looking at a Goldberg vs. Lesnar rematch at WrestleMania. He speculated that Lesnar might interfere in The Royal Rumble match, causing Goldberg to be eliminated. Matt Morgan, Glenn Rubenstein and I discussed that scenario on last night's episode of the Wrestling Inc. podcast, which you can listen to here. We noted that WWE did that angle in 2004, when Lesnar interfered and cost Goldberg The Royal Rumble, which led to Goldberg causing Lesnar to lose the WWE Championship to Eddie Guerrero the next month before they squared off at WrestleMania XX.
