- Anthony Johnson will get his chance at redemption and becoming the UFC light heavyweight champion all in one when he takes on Daniel Cormier at UFC 206 next month. The two will collide on pay-per-view from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
Cormier won the first encounter, scoring a submission to win the then-vacant title. The card will also feature Anthony Pettis vs. Max Holloway, Donald Cerrone vs. Matt Brown and Tim Kennedy vs. Rashad Evans.
- Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of just a handful of fighters to compete 20-plus times in their careers and still be unbeaten. But that isn't enough to impress UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor.
While many view "The Eagle" as the top contender to McGregor's 155-pound belt, "Notorious" doesn't feel the same way. After claiming the title from Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 this past weekend, McGregor explained his main issue with Nurmagomedov.
"He's fought once in eight years," McGregor sarcastically stated at UFC 205's post-event press conference. "He ain't fighting frequent enough for my liking. For me to commit to something like that, I need to know people are going to show up, and he's a consistent pullout merchant. He had a good performance (at UFC 205) ? fair play to him. We'll see where it goes."
Nurmagomedov returned in April from a two-year layoff. He bested Michael Johnson on the prelims of UFC 205.
