On episode 89 of Heated Conversations: Hosted By Booker T, WWE Champion AJ Styles talked about his current run with the world's largest professional wrestling promotion, what it is like being champion, and a possible "dream match" with WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels.
According to Styles, going to WWE has been a "blessing" and the negative rumors about the company were either untrue or a lot has changed with the company since he has been there.
"Being here certainly has been a blessing. All the stories you've heard in the past, well, either they weren't true, or this place has changed, because every expectation I had has gone above and beyond with this company. It's an amazing place to work."
Moreover, Styles acknowledged that being WWE Champion is bigger than being champion of any other professional wrestling promotion. 'The Phenomenal One' stated that he feels the pressure of having to delivery every night, but it is enjoyable and it keeps him young.
"I've been champion everywhere, but it's not even close to being the WWE Champion because it's so worldwide that everybody knows exactly [what] WWE is. So many times I've had a belt or a championship at other companies, and people go, if I was going through immigration, they'd say, 'what did you do over there?' 'I wrestled.' 'Oh, you mean like the WWE?' Every time, every time. So now, I'm like, 'no, I'm with WWE. I work for them.' That's huge, man! And the one thing [Booker T was] talking about, being the WWE champ, the one thing that you've got to do, day in, day out, and that's deliver. And that's pressure to be able to do that, but I enjoy that pressure. It keeps me active, keeps me ready, that's a good thing, keeps me young, to be honest with you."
As for a possible "dream match" against Michaels, Styles professed that dream matches are for the fans and the proverbial ball is in 'The Heartbreak Kid''s court.
"It's not up to me to have dream matches. It's up to the WWE Universe to have those dream matches and whatever they want, I want to deliver. Now, whether or not Shawn would like to do something like that, that's totally up to him. I totally respect who he is and what he [has] done for this business. And so, that's totally in his court."
