Drew McIntyre Talks WarGames Match Not Having A Roof

WWE Champion AJ Styles and NXT Champion Drew McIntyre were interviewed by 97.9 The Box in Houston this week to promote tonight's NXT Takeover: WarGames event and Sunday's Survivor Series pay-per-view. McIntyre spoke on how the WarGames once had a roof, but with how creative wrestlers are today, not having a roof will help the Superstars.

"We used to have a roof on it, but that kind of limited the creativity and the crazy stuff the guys can do," McIntyre said. "We're in 2017 and the guys are a little more crazy, there is a chance the guys are going to fly off the cage, two rings – side-by-side – surrounded by a cage. Three teams of three, kicking the crap out of each other."

While McIntyre will not be in the WarGames match, he'll be defending his NXT Championship against Andrade "Cien" Almas at NXT Takeover: WarGames.

Earlier this week, Triple H took part in a media conference to promote Sunday's NXT Takeover: WarGames event, and also spoke about WarGames not having a roof.

"We're not going to have a roof," Triple H said. "I think it's a little bit limiting. I think the style has changed. I'm not saying that anyone's going to do it in this match, but I think going forward, I try to think about the future... look, Arn Anderson wasn't doing moonsaults off the top of a cage [Laughs]. This allows for there to be a little bit of a different opportunity there to do some things."

"I don't think personally that we've changed the concept of what it is... there are some small tweaks, but I think they work better in today's generation than it did in the format that was originally used."
